Window Rock

Capitol of the Navajo Nation

Window Rock at the Navajo Nation Capitol

Freezing water, wind and differences in temperature have created this large window in the sandstone formation. Adjacent to this structure, are Navajo Nation governmental offices. The tribal council meets in a building that is only several hundred feet south. The area around the rock is maintained as a tribal park. A tourist in the middle right of center should give an appreciation for the window's size. Window Rock may be seen from State Route 264 as one is traveling from west to east near the Fair Grounds.
